DC06 is a low carbon, low alloy steel that is commonly used for deep drawing applications. It has the following key characteristics:
Low carbon content (around 0.08%) which provides good ductility and formability
Minimal alloying elements which keeps the material cost relatively low
Typical tensile strength range of 270-330 MPa
Excellent deep drawing properties, allowing for the manufacture of complex, 3D shapes
The DC06 steel's combination of formability and strength makes it well-suited for low volume, deep drawn stamped parts such as automotive body panels, appliance housings, and other consumer goods.
Rapid Prototype Stamping Tools:
For low volume stamping runs, using rapid prototype tooling can be an effective approach compared to traditional hard tooling:

They can be produced much faster and at lower cost than hard tooling, enabling quicker iterations
